Call for Christmas baskets Guignolée Casselman invites residents to contribute to the Christmas baskets, Sunday, December 10, 2017. Volunteers will go door-to-door between noon and 5 p.m., to collect non-perishable food and donations. Interested parties are welcome to join this team of volunteers. The food drive will start at noon at Ste-Euphémie Church. The donations can be presented at the Casselman Christmas parade, to be held December 3, 2017. These contributions can also be placed in the community pantry (red cabinet outside the church) or at Ste-Euphémie church during masses, until December 17, 2017. Info: Michelle at 613-764 -9933.

Prescott-Russell against bullying
La troisième édition de la Journée des petits entrepreneurs du Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) est officiellement lancée. Plus de 1400 petits entrepreneurs, âgés de 5 à 12 ans, mettront sur pied leur entreprise d’un jour au courant des mois de mai et juin, ce qui signifie que le nombre d’écoles élémentaires participantes a plus que triplé depuis la première édition en 2015. Environ 15 écoles élémentaires de la région participeront à cette initiative, dont les écoles élémentaires de Clarence Creek, Hammond, Wendover, VankleekHill, Crysler, Russell, et plus encore. From November 19 to November 25, the Prescott-Russell Coalition in Action to Prevent and Stop Bullying will mark Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week by running a social media campaign. The Coalition will be posting messages on Facebook, under the hashtag #ChangingAttitudes, in hopes of fostering positive action as an effort in preventing and putting an end to bullying. According to statistics from the Government of Canada, high school students engage in bullying behavior more so than elementary school students, but those numbers do end up decreasing with age. The Coalition has also issued tips for those in bullying situations, such as not being afraid to report it, to savemessages of cyber bullying and to speak up if you are a witness of such a case. —photo submitted
