literary treasure that originated among the Bedouin of the Arabian Peninsula. It uses a spontaneous style, reflecting a person’s artistic flair and creativity. While Nabati poetry tackles many of the themes covered by classical Arabic poetry, such as chivalry, pride, longing, and unity, it distinguishes itself with the use of colloquial language and direct style. This gives intimacy to the poetry and makes it more personal. Nabati poetry has gained more significance in recent years, becoming a vital source for learning about the history of the region and the numerous transformations it has undergone. INTELLECTUAL AWARENESS The Abu Dhabi Poetry Festival lived up to its slogan “Poetry inspires us”, bringing together thousands of poets, writers, and literary figures to meet, connect and explore various poetic forms in an immersive environment. Young poets and writers had the opportunity to showcase their talents and meet established poets from around the world, as well as learn more about the historical story-telling role that poetry has played across the Arab World. In this conducive environment, they got acquainted with new genres of poetry, such as eco-poetry, which has a strong ecological emphasis or message.

A new poetry festival in Abu Dhabi has been hailed as a resounding success. The Abu Dhabi Poetry Festival attracted nearly 15,000 visitors to its first edition and more than 1,000 male and female poets, including candidates for the Million’s Poet show. Over the four days of the event, which took place from 12 to 15 October 2023, visitors flocked to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre to experience a rare celebration of Arabic poetry, creativity, and talent whilst getting acquainted with distinguished poets in the Arab World. The Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi organised the festival to support the cultural and literary movement in the Arab World and broaden the appeal of Nabati and classical Arabic poetry to a wider audience. Classical poetry, sometimes referred to as Quranic Arabic, is a masterful fusion of convention and creativity. It is key to understanding Islamic scriptures as well as centuries of rich poetry and literature. Nabati poetry, on the other hand, is a
