In a significant cultural endeavour, the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi released Diwan , a book containing 149 personal poems written by Sheikh Zayed, it also includes commentary from other renowned poets. The captivating literary creation covers a variety of categories, including brotherhood, patriotism, and social aspects of Sheikh Zayed’s life and personality. “The Abu Dhabi Poetry Festival comes in line with the dedicated cultural approach of the emirate of Abu Dhabi and its significant role in supporting culture-related and heritage-preservation initiatives, contributing to events taking place in the UAE,” said HE Al Mazrouei. Moreover, the event hosted the final auditions for the 11 th Million’s Poet, the televised competition show created to revive Nabati poetry and find the most talented Arabic poet. These tryouts came after the show’s expert panel evaluated 1,027 poems written by poets from 23 countries and selected 512 entries to be further assessed. During the 11 th edition, the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi is offering AED 15 million in prizes to the first five winners. The most talented Arabic poet takes home the biggest prize, a AED 5 million-award, as well as the One Million Poet title and flag [Al Bairaq].

“Abu Dhabi is widely recognised as a nurturing environment for poetry, creativity, and talent,” His Excellency Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Police Commander- in-Chief, and Chairman of the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee – Abu Dhabi, said in a statement. “The emirate is keen on fostering and nurturing intellectual awareness in the Arab World and enriching the Arab cultural scene. Most importantly, Abu Dhabi is devoted to preserving the poetic, literary, and cultural heritage of the UAE and Arabic-speaking countries”. The Festival featured several pavilions, including one dedicated to the poetry written by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and a pavilion for Emirati poetry. Cultural seminars and poetry sessions also took place with writers from various Arab countries, alongside a book signing corner that saw meet and greets, and a special pavilion for children to discover poetry.
