As a 104-year-old brand, how have you responded to the changing needs, desires and demands of luxury consumers who are environmentally aware and have changing perspectives of the car as a luxury status symbol? Will hybrid or electric cars bring more customers to Bentley? Bentley’s Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history. The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact. That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility. The new Dream Factory includes a go-to-zero approach on the environmental impacts of manufacturing. Having achieved carbon neutral production already in 2019, Bentley aims to reduce water consumption, waste to landfill and other environmental impacts for every vehicle built in Crewe to an absolute minimum until 2030. On Bentley’s model range, the luxury marque already leads the way in the luxury hybrid car sector. It is anticipated that more than 20 per cent of sales this year will come from Bentley’s hybrid models. .

What are your plans for the Continental GT and GTC over the next two decades? We cannot discuss future products, but as part of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy, we are introducing hybrids across our entire model range by 2025. Tell me about Bentley’s target of becoming the leader in sustainable luxury mobility and your strategy to switch your entire range to full electrification by 2030, and the role the Continental GT and GTC will play in helping you to achieve this. In 2020, Bentley Motors outlined plans to become a global leader in sustainable luxury mobility with further details of its Beyond100 strategy revealed. With the promise to offer truly sustainable luxury, Bentley is reinventing every aspect of its business to become an end-to-end carbon neutral organisation by 2030. The target is driven by a transformation programme across Bentley’s entire operations and products. This includes switching its model range to offer plug-in hybrid vehicles across the model range by 2025, and full electric vehicles only by 2030. This will mean evolving from the world’s largest producer of 12-cylinder petrol engines to having no internal combustion engines within a decade. The Continental GT and GTC continue to provide the sales revenue needed to drive this change, which will involve GBP2.5 billion of self-generated investment in the coming years.
