archives. Virtual reality [VR] is another technology that has potential to transform the user experience within the archival domain. VR can provide immersive interactions with historical materials, allowing users to engage with the past in unprecedented ways. However, alongside these technological advancements, there is a critical need to address ethical and privacy concerns. As archives become more accessible and interconnected, it is crucial to strike a balance between accessibility and data protection. Clear guidelines and frameworks are necessary to ensure that sensitive information is appropriately safeguarded, while still enabling meaningful access and research. With a record number of nearly 3,000 people attending the ICA Congress Abu Dhabi, the event must have been a great opportunity for participants to experience the UAE’s culture, heritage, and hospitality. What aspects of the local culture and heritage did you showcase during the congress? Through the ICA Congress, we sought to highlight the distinct features of the UAE’s heritage and vibrant culture and enhance the country’s position on the global culture and tourism map. As part of this objective, we organised a series of visits for the participating delegations to some of the notable locations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Heritage Village, Abrahamic Family House, Qasr Al Hosn, Qasr Al Watan, Old Souq at the World Trade Centre, and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
