Leadership should never be surprised by engineering-related disruptions. Notify leadership in advance of: • Fire inspections and fire drills • Utility shut oSs (water, power, gas) • Intrusive engineering projects o Equipment replacements o Extended shutdowns o Projects impacting guest areas Early communication allows leadership to plan, message guests, and recover service eSectively. Communication Timing & Method Do not wait for meetings to communicate critical information. Use the appropriate method: • Email – Detailed updates, documentation, project summaries • In-Person – Walk to the department for clarity and visibility • Phone Call – Urgent or time-sensitive matters • Text Message – Immediate awareness when appropriate When communicating: • Be professional and factual • Keep language simple and clear • Avoid technical jargon unless necessary • Assume the audience may not understand engineering terminology 2.
