Whether you have been injured or have been suffering from pain for a long time, seeing a physical or occupational therapist at Partners In Physical Therapy can help you return to a more active and pain-free life. Give us a call at 337-439-3344 today! There are also a few tips you can do on your own, either before PT or OT treatments or in combination with them, in order to strengthen your core and relieve your pain. These include: 1. Improving your posture. Make sure to stand up frequently, at least every 30 minutes, and vary your positions of work throughout the day. 2. Avoiding injury. Make sure you know the proper way to lift, bend, and pick up objects, even if they are not heavy. It is important to lift with your legs, rather than your back. 3. Getting adequate rest and exercise. Relaxing and sleeping helps your body to rejuvenate after a long day, and those hours before 12 a.m. are especially important. Exercising can help you fall asleep earlier, allowing you to wake up feeling refreshed the next day. 4. Eating nutritious meals. Make it a habit to eat vegetables, fruits, and lean protein. It is also important to drink a lot of water, as dehydration can dry out your tissues. 5. Getting expert help. At Partners In Physical Therapy our physical and occupational therapists are here to help you improve your function and relieve your pain. If you are looking to strengthen your core, relieve your pain, and improve your overall health, contact us today!
Your core muscles help you do a lot – from sitting, to walking, to doing a large number of physical activities. If your core muscles are weak, you may unknowingly be causing some damage to your body. Contact Partners In Physical Therapy today to figure out how we can help you strengthen your core muscles and improve your overall health. What exactly are the core muscles? When most people think of core muscles, they immediately think of the abdominals. However, the core is made up of much more than that! In fact, your core muscles include your abdominal, lower back, pelvic, and gluteus muscles. The group of muscles that make up your core help with stabilizing your body, constructing your posture, and allowing your skeleton to move properly. When any of the muscles within that group become weak, your body experiences an instability that makes it difficult for your body to function properly. As a result, you end up compensating by straining different areas of the body, most commonly the back and neck muscles. As a result, this leads to undesirable consequences, such as poor posture, fatigue, inflammation, or pain. How can I strengthen my core muscles? When you are experiencing pain, sometimes it is necessary to seek the assistance of a trained professional in the field of human movement. At Partners In Physical Therapy, our licensed therapists will conduct a physical evaluation to determine where the pain is rooted and what muscles must be strengthened in order to correct it.

THE MANY BENEFITS OF PILATES: ENHANCING YOUR PT TREATMENT PLAN
Pilates may seem like a new way to engage in physical activity, but did you know it was actually created in the early 20th century? Joseph Pilates created this form of exercise during World War I as a way to help rehabilitate wounded soldiers. Since then, pilates has been used for a vast arrangement of exercise, treatment, and strength training. For more information on how Pilates can enhance your physical therapy treatment plan, contact Partners In Physical Therapy today! How does Pilates fit with PT? Pilates for rehabilitation purposes has been a growing trend in the physical therapy field for quite some time now. This advanced form of exercise not only helps in the recovery of an injured body part, but it also goes beyond that - it helps with improving strength and movement throughout the entire body. Pilates can be used in areas other than injury rehabilitation, as well. It has also been known to be used as a stress management technique, as well as a way to strengthen the joints and muscles. It helps with improving muscle performance, motor control, and reinforcing postural alignment. By focusing on the core, Pilates is able to amplify your center of balance and promote an even musculature throughout the body. This treatment is effective for a large number of neurological and orthopedic issues, which is the main reason why so many physical therapists are incorporating it into their practices. Some of the most common conditions treated with Pilates include: • Arthritis. • Balance issues. • Multiple sclerosis.
• Spinal cord injuries. • Brain injuries. • Stroke.
At Partners In Physical Therapy, we also offer a special program for cancer patients, where the primary focus is Pilates. Our aim is to help each patient reach their full potential of physical function, no matter what their condition may be. How do I get started?
