Kiltwalkers go the extra mile!

The incredible support we receive every year at Kiltwalk events across Scotland never ceases to amaze us. Almost 300 of you laced up your walking shoes for the Glasgow Kiltwalk on the last weekend of April, raising money for the Ayrshire Hospice by taking on either the 22-mile Mighty Stride, the 15-mile Big Stroll or the 4-mile Wee Wander. Over £55,000 has been raised so far from Kiltwalks in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee, and with the Edinburgh Kiltwalk still to come in September, it is shaping up to be another incredible year of support from our Hospice Heroes. We’ll be sharing the final fundraising total in the next issue of The Article.

for Marr College pupils!

Braving the cold and wind, more than 60 S6 pupils took part in a sponsored 7.5-mile walk from the Ayrshire Hospice back to their school campus in Troon.

Since joining the school in S1, this dedicated year group has raised an incredible £24,000 for the Hospice through their annual Legacy Day and is hoping to smash its £30,000 target before the end of the school year. The S6 cohort has planned a whole host of exciting fundraising activities, including bake sales, an S6 hockey versus rugby match and a climb up Goat Fell on Arran once exams are finished!

The Ayrshire Hospice Fundraising Team was also delighted to welcome a group of pupils to the Hospice, where they enjoyed a tour of the building and learned more about the care and services we provide across Ayrshire and Arran. Thank you to everyone at Marr College for your continued support of the Ayrshire Hospice!

Marion Reid recently won the top prize of £1,000 in the Ayrshire Hospice Lottery draw. Marion joined the Ayrshire Hospice Lottery in 2018 and had previously won a £10 prize on two occasions. Following her big win, she generously my friends have had loved ones cared for and the care was second to none. I hope that playing the lottery will continue to provide funding for patients and their families for many years to come.” Marion takes home top prize!
