Cllr James said:“I have always wanted to see Gloucester as a single cohesive destination, so we need the Quays, the Docks and the city centre to work together. The management of Gloucester Quays understand that and they want to see the whole of the city being successful.” He praised the support given to the regeneration of the city by Jason Pullen, MD of Gloucester Quays who was last year promoted to the main board of outlet centre’s owner Peel Land and Property Group. As MD of Peel's Lifestyle Outlets, Mr Pullen now also oversees the company's Manchester outlet located in MediaCityUK and a third site in development at Glasgow. Cllr James said: “Jason is certainly passionate about Gloucester and has driven the improvements at Gloucester Quays. He does look at the bigger picture.” Looking at the regeneration of the city overall, he said: “There are still challenges and there is still a lot to do.
We know from other places that turning around a city takes a long time. “We are over 15 years into the city’s regeneration journey and we have quite a few years to go before it is completed. You could argue that it is a bit like painting the Forth Road Bridge – once it is completed it is time to start again. “We have put heritage at the forefront of regeneration and viewed it as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.
