son team will play its "rst game against the OJHL Nieuwendyk one, which is composed of players from the Toronto-Hamilton-Tren- ton territory. This season, Racine and Brochu are on a roll with 30 and 22 points each in 24 games. Bringing power and speed to the Hawks’ of- fensive line, they brought back some sparks to a team that was lost for a couple of sea- sons. Hunter Racine, who is committed to Colgate University for 2015-2016, one of the top-30 colleges in the US, is playing his third season in the CCHL, two with the Ottawa Se- nators. On the other hand, Jason Brochu has really come into his own this year with a keen eye on the ice. The Quebec native is only one goal shy of his CCHL personal record of 14 goals, which took him 53 games to accom- plish last season. HAWKESBURY | The Hawks put an end to a 4-game losing streak last Friday with a shu- tout win against the Nepean Raiders, a !rst this season. Defenceman Damien Charette stole the show on Halloween night with a power play hat trick, the !rst of his promi- sing junior career. During the "rst period, forward Tristan Per- reault-Gagnon took goalie Daniel Urbani by surprise with a crisp wrist shot from the slot for the winning goal. Across the rink, Gunner Rivers was reigning supreme with 10 saves and a lot more con"dence. Power plays were scarce during the game, but the Hawks jump on the opportunity to put the game away in the second frame with two power play goals fromDamien Charette. Number 5 put the icing on the cake at 6:15 of the third with the help of Rory Gagnon, who rackedup three assists during the game. In the net, Gunner Rivers stopped 21 shots for his "rst shutout of the season and his se- cond as a Hawk. The win was his "rst since the upset in Carleton Place in October. Speaking of the Canadians, the club is still breezing at the top of the Robinson division, but it didn’t stop the Hawks from giving them a run for their money on November 2. Carleton Place broke the ice in the second period after a blank score sheet in the "rst. Andy Sturtz gave his team a boost with a shorthanded goal, but Rory Gagnon rang the bell with the equalizer at 14:29. The period ended up in turmoil with some rou- ghing and both teams had the will to win. In the third, Hawkesbury unleashed 20 shots on the goal but just couldn’t pass it by Guillaume Therrien. Trailing behind by one goal up to the end, the Hawks decided to bring back Gunner Rivers and give the o!ense one last try with six players. But the Canadians are almost invincible at home and stuck it to the Hawks with an empty net goal. The Hawks now have a 12-12 record and sit in third place in the division with 25 points. In comparison, the team only won 18 games out of 62 last season. The team is back in town tonight to face the Gloucester Rangers, who bounced back from an 8-0 lost against Kemptville with a 5-3 win over Cum- berland. The Hawks will then complete the weekend in Nepean.
