Results released from a 26-year study of the Rideau River system show the invasive species has “taken over” the system, which is ideal for zebra mussel growth. There a few isolated areas left in the Rideau River where native mussel species still thrive. Anyone boating the Rideau River should clean the bottoms of their vessels to prevent the spread of zebra mussels to other river systems. – Gregg Chamberlain
