Great weather for Poutmasters 2017 fishing derby!

The 18 th Annual Poutmasters Fishing Derby was another great success according to organizers. In total, 222 adults and youths registered, catching a total of 368 mud pouts between Friday, May 19, and Sunday, May 21. Every person who caught a fish won a prize. The canoe and kayak were won by Valerie Bourque and Brian Chamberlain, respectfully. This year, the Kin Club of Russell part- nered with Russell Scotiabank, Canadian Facility Security, Russell Township, Rus- sell Lions, South Nation Conservation and Laplante Chrysler Dodge. In the youth category, the winning fisher- men were Evan Houle (768 grams), Bryson Grobelny (690 grams) and Breze Grobelny (686 grams). As for the adults, JacobWalkden (644 grams) Mike Vidal (620 grams) and Stephen Hynes-Ion (580 grams) were the lucky winners. Both adult and youth first place winners also won free tickets to see André-Philippe Gagnon and Tara Shannon, in Russell, on Saturday, June 3.

Les amateurs de boue et de véhicules sport se donnent rendez-vous à Casselman en fin de semaine, alors qu’ils pourront s’en don- ner à cœur joie lors d’une fin de semaine de courses Mudbog , avec 6000 $ à gagner en prix. Pour cette occasion, camions, moto- neiges, motocross, véhicules tout terrain et côte à côte se rendront au 1348, Calypso à Casselman, pour une fin de semaine de sport extrême, de camping et de musique. En effet, en plus d’un terrain de camping sur le site, les participants et spectateurs auront accès à une cantine, des toilettes portables ainsi que des boissons de rafraî- chissement sous le chapiteau.
