T here are plenty of special details about the most recent Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York. For example, it is the first time the event head- ed downtown to transform a building in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. And the fact that this edition marks the program’s 50th anniversary gave the proceedings a celebratory air. But the most extraordinary details were provided by the designers, who helped transform a 9,000-square-foot residence on West 12th Street. Olivia Williams Studio created a studio within the home (previous spread) into a space she dubbed Apartment Ryuu, adding shine via a custom brass bar with a Kohler Components faucet and Kohler Strive sink. Meanwhile, Purple Cherry Architects went for gold tones in a powder room (above) with capiz shell wallcovering and a Kohler Purist faucet.
In the Paraíso Encontrado bath (oppo- site page ) from Tamara Feldman Design, black-and-white collided with an explosion of color, including a teal Kohler San Souci toilet and a Kohler Artifacts freestanding bath with that same teal on the exterior but a Fresh Green interior. Other statement-making spots include a kitchen that the Christopher Peacock team calls an homage to quiet luxury. However, it is also ready for action with a Kohler Synthos workstation sink and Kohler Billet pull-down faucet. And there was more sparkle in the Gilded Waters bath from Melanie Roy Design, which combined white elements like a Kohler Veil pedestal sink with bright elements such as a Kohler Components faucet. Perhaps the most inspiring detail is that Kips Bay Decorator Show House has raised over $30 million, changing lives at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and beyond. ■
