● Elementary School Early Morning Program: $20/day. Payment schedules available ● School Lunch: $5.25 per elementary lunch $5.50 per middle and high school lunch. The first meal is still expected to be free for all students unless there are significant reductions in state or federal funding. ● Family Super Cap: $2,490 Financial Support for Families The district is committed to financial equity and thus strongly supports reducing the financial barriers to participation for all families. Typically, 75% of participants pay the full fee, while 15% receive a reduction in fees in the form of financial waivers, family caps, or the super cap. About 10% of participants typically are not paid in full or are partially paid. There is no fixed income cut-off in the approval of fee waivers; special circumstances are considered on an individual basis. The goal is to ensure that activities are fully available to all Newton students and to avoid deterring students from participating. As of the 2025-2026 school year, the Business Office has approved 99% of financial waiver applications, amounting to 1,931 current waivers. This means approximately 17% of active district students have been approved for financial assistance. These are examples by program to reflect the impact of the district-wide financial waiver: ● Elementary Early Morning Program: 35% of enrolled students benefit from a full or partial waiver. ● Elementary Music Program: Serving over 1,100 students, this program supports families in need through fee waivers and/or by providing loaned instruments. Currently, 14% of participating students have received waivers. ● Newton North Fall 2025 Athletics: Newton North had 603 students participate in Fall athletics. 13% of students were covered by the waiver. ● Newton South Fall 2025 Athletics: Newton South had 463 students participate in Fall athletics. 15% of students were covered by the waiver.
