This section provides a detailed review of Newton Public Schools’ individual non-operating funds. These include City of Newton and cash capital funding; state, federal, and private grants, and gifts; the National School Lunch Program; and other special revenue funds. These resources generally supplement the operating budget and are restricted or designated for specific programs and purposes.
Three-year revenue and expenditure forecasts are omitted from the Financial Section this year, as ongoing collective bargaining negotiations make projecting salary and benefit costs (which make up approximately 87% of the NPS budget) unreliable at this time.
