Financial Support for Families The district is committed to financial equity and strongly supports reducing or eliminating financial barriers to participation for all families. Families can receive a reduction in fees in the form of financial waivers, family caps, or the super cap. Newton reviews waiver requests on a case-by-case basis, allowing for unusual or extenuating circumstances to be considered with the goal to ensure student participation. Additionally, financial assistance for school-level activities is determined under the pri ncipals’ discretion. Principals at each school have access to the district waiver list as an aid in their decision-making process if needed.

During the 2024-2025 school year, the district has approved 99% of financial waiver applications allowing for active 1,897 financial waivers. As a result, approximately 16% of families in the district have been approved for a financial waiver.
