The 15th green was originally raised by putting tree stumps underneath it. This was fine until a member jumped into the greenside bunker and ‘disappeared’. It turned out that there was a natural spring underneath the green that rotted the tree stumps and they eventually collapsed!
Roger Chapman – former tour player – played in the early Badgemore pro-am competitions and commented that the third hole was the hardest that he’d ever played!
