PRESENTED BY: Michael Vlasto, whose father Augustus built Badgemore House in 1939 – 1941. The Vlasto Cup was the first and only competition played in the club’s inaugural year of 1972. THE AG WHITMAN TROPHY AWARDED TO: The winner of an 18 holes stroke play competition and run in conjunction with the Burke Cup (18 holes Midweek Stableford competition). YEARS PLAYED: 1977 to present. Gus was runner-up in the Club Championship of 2001 and felt that the runner-up deserved a trophy to mark the achievement. THE DIRECTORS TROPHY AWARDED TO: The winner of the 36 holes stroke play (handicap) competition run in conjunction with the Club Championship. YEARS PLAYED: 1973 to present. PRESENTED BY: Sydney Paddick, Renee Paddick, Harry Gold and Tony Duke in 1973, who were the directors of the club on its formation in 1970. THE FOUNDERS TROPHY AWARDED TO: The winner of the Summer Singles Knockout competition. YEARS PLAYED: 1973 to present. PRESENTED BY: A number of the club’s founder members. THE HALLMARK BOWL AWARDED TO: The winner of a Stableford competition. YEARS PLAYED: 1973 to present. PRESENTED BY: Hallmark Cards (member John Blundell was a
director of Hallmark Cards at the time) who operated from Badgemore House from 1972 to 1982. THE MCDOUGALL CUP AWARDED TO: The winners of the Captain-Pro Challenge. YEARS PLAYED: 1973 to present. PRESENTED BY: Jim McDougall, who was club captain in 1973 to initiate a four ball better ball competition between the members and the captain and professional, who at the time was his son Richard. THE NSPCC CHARITY PUTTER AWARDED TO: The winner of the Midweek Stableford NSPCC Charity Putter competition. YEARS PLAYED: 1989 to present. PRESENTED BY: Mark Howell, professional at the club from 1983 to 1990. The putter is housed in the display box located on the north wall of the Spike Bar. PREMIER CUP AWARDED TO: The winner of the Midweek Singles Stroke Play Knockout competition. Entrants were from the top 32 of the previous year’s Midweek Golfer of the Year (Order of Merit). The latter ceased in 2020 and entry is now for all.
