Oil $500 - By Flavious J. Smith, Jr.

geological features and faults more accurately and precisely than two- dimensional seismic. This technology eliminates much of the risk for exploration and production companies. It can reduce the number of “dry holes” drilled in exploratory areas. And it can help better place wells as a field is developed. The following image is a 3-D representation of what the layers of Earth look like. The different colors are different formations.

4-D seismic technology adds a time component. This process uses repeated seismic data of the same area to help determine reservoir production and depletion over time. This helps oil and gas companies implement best practices in reservoir management and increase oil recoveries.

The following image shows the different layers of rock and seven wellbores denoted as lines.
