Lisa’s experience with accountability began when she reached out to her regional manager for help. “He had me start by being accountable to myself with an accountability sheet,” Lisa says. It worked! Lisa personalized her ac- countability sheet and has used it every day for years. What she learned

to redefine follow-up. “Many new builders think following up is sending a reminder email or text to new custom- ers to shop,” Lisa says. “I tell them we are not talking about reminders, we are talking about building a relationship. Give them a call and help them shop— don’t just tell them to shop. “Accountability has changed my build- ing perspective,” says Lisa. “I call my team the Bamboo Team. When it is first planted, the Chinese Bamboo Tree doesn’t grow an inch for about five years! Then it bursts out of the ground and in six weeks soars to 90 feet high. How I reach out, perceive people, set an appointment, and coach my team are all part of that bamboo growth in the last 10 years. It changed everything. One week I made 50 calls but only five ap- pointments. But the next week I booked 11 appointments from callbacks! If I plant the seeds, pull weeds, and water, it will grow.” Lisa keeps track of all the coaching and Strategy Sessions with her team. “I know how often I am reaching out and talking with my team,” she says. “In the two-way street of accountability, there is also an expectation for them to reach back. So for Melaleuca to reach to me today and ask how accountability helps me build my business, it shows me we are all on the same team. We are in it together, to win! That’s what account- ability is all about.”

from her own accountability journey, she now applies to her team and in her approaches. Because account- ability is based on goals, strategies, and activities, Lisa uses it when enrolling new business builders. “A lot of people don’t dream anymore, and I get the privilege of helping them dream again by

showing them how Melaleuca can help them attain their goals. And because accountability is all about commitment to each other, I tell them, ‘We will do this together.’” Because accountability is based on rela- tionships, Lisa coaches team members
