When Tova enrolled with Melaleuca as a business builder, she was thoroughly familiar with project planning. In her 20-year career of project management and technology development, she was accustomed to tracking and accounting for every facet of her projects. “It was in my DNA,” she says, “so you would think I would take the same planning approach in my Melaleuca business, but it actually took a long time to apply my time-man- agement skills. I converted the Melaleuca Tracker into a spreadsheet that would tally the hours so I could coach people to time-block, track their time, and review their week for spending time on critical activities to get the most results. But somehow it wasn’t so easy to do it in my own business. It was the concept of accountability that finally made it click. Having others depend on me to stay ac- countable was the missing ingredient!” “I became closer to my business partners, and we made great strides,” Tova says. “I was so organized I was able to vol- unteer to do the 104-page layout of my daughter’s yearbook during Fast Track! I taught Hebrew at my temple and spent quality time with my family. For me, the difference was being accountable to someone else.”
Another lightbulb flashed on with the thought that accountability is about being true to yourself, true to your word, and actually being your word. “That resonated strongly with me—proving to myself that if I said I was going to do it, I would,” Tova says. Yet another insight came when all the builders on Tova’s Fast Track team
set new goals for August and com- mitted to how they intended to work toward those goals in June and July. “What each busi- ness builder needs is different,” Tova explains, “so we col- lected our business data and, based on the needs of each one, placed them in teams. All the teams have promised to keep in touch, and everyone is commit- ted to not letting a week go by without doing what they committed to do.” True to her own
