Incendie mortel à Sainte-Rose

STE-ROSE | Un homme est décédé dans un incendie à la ferme Picard, le 22 avril, au 2408, chemin de la Concession 17 à Sainte-Rose. Le corps du défunt a été retrouvé après que l’incendie ait été maîtrisé. Sans en rayer la possibilité, les policiers ne soupçonnent pas un incendie criminel pour l’instant. des incendies de l’Ontario, la Police provin- ciale de l’Ontario et le Bureau du coroner est en cours. L’identité, l’âge et le lieu de ré- sidence de l’homme restent à confirmer par les autorités. Un appel d’urgence venant d’un télé- phone cellulaire aurait alerté les pompiers vers 18h50, lundi soir. Le brasier aurait pris naissance dans une grange de petite taille, qui servait d’entrepôt de bois et de ferraille. L’appel n’aurait pas mentionné qu’un indivi- du était coincé dans le bâtiment enflammé, selon le chef du Service des incendies de la Nation, Ghislain Pigeon. Une quarantaine de pompiers des caser- nes de Saint-Isidore, Fournier, Saint-Al- bert et Casselman ont répondu à l’appel d’urgence. Malgré les efforts des pompiers, l’édifice est une perte totale. Le feu a été éteint complètement vers 12h46, dans la nuit de lundi à mardi. La Police provinciale de l’Ontario était sur les lieux toute la journée, mardi dernier. Sur les lieux du sinistre, les restes de la grange des Picard sont délimités d’un ruban jaune.
