Moments Worth Framing
For Jeff and Kari, photography grew out of a life they were already building together.
Their own family has since become part of that story. Jeff and Kari welcomed their daughter, Ellie, giving them a new perspective on the families they photograph. “It’s a whole other level of understanding,” Kari says. “She’s changing so much, and we realize even more how short the moments really are.” That experience has made the newborn stage especially meaningful to them. The early weeks can pass in a blur for new parents, but photographs can preserve the details— the tiny features, the way a baby fits in a parent’s arms, or the relationship beginning between siblings. “These are very specific moments in a very specific period of their lives,” Kari says. “You really can’t recreate the stage once it’s gone.” Where Life Happens For lifestyle photography, Jeff and Kari don't need a picture-perfect setting. In fact, the home often provides the most meaningful one. They walk through a family's space, paying attention to natural light and the places where people naturally spend time. A nursery, bedroom, living room or even a hallway can become the setting for a photograph.
The Rhode Island couple met in high school and have spent nearly two decades growing up
alongside one another. Long before they became busi- ness partners, photography was simply something they enjoyed together. Jeff was drawn to the camera, while Kari explored photography through film and black-and-white work in high school. At one point, the couple even walked dogs to earn money for dates and photographed their clients' pets. In 2020, when Jeff’s sister became pregnant during the pandemic, the couple saw an opportunity to document the experience. What started with photographing family quickly grew into something they wanted to pursue professionally, and they launched Jeff and Kari Photography that September. Today, the husband-and-wife team specializes in maternity, newborn and family photography throughout Rhode Island and Southern New England. Much of their work takes place in clients’ homes, where they can create both polished portraits and photographs that feel more like everyday life.
