AStronger Core Means a Healthier You

Can’t I Just Do Sit-ups? Strengthening the abdominals is just one component of strengthening your core muscles. It takes an expert, trained in the science of human movement to analyze where your pain is coming from. Our physical therapy professionals are just those experts. Whether your pain is from your back, neck, shoulders, or legs, we perform a thorough analysis of your posture, movement, and strength. This allows us to pinpoint exactly what is causing your pain. Only then, can an effective treatment plan be made to obtain the fastest results. Call us today to learn more how we can eliminate your pain and improve your health!

WhatAreYourCoreMuscles? Your “core” is the group of muscles that help stabilize your body and give a strong point from which your skeleton can move properly with good posture. The core is made up of your abdominal, low back, pelvic, and gluteus muscles. When any one of these groups is weak, it causes instability and makes it hard to use your body properly. The result is strain to different areas of your body, especially the back and neck muscles. This causes bad posture, fatigue, inflammation, and pain.

Graston Technique ® Gets Results

Soft tissue injuries can be debilitating and frustrating. Graston Technique® (GT) is successful in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute or post surgical. GT can help you enjoy life again. Our unique technique and instruments enable physical and occupational therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, and hand therapists to address scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation and to administer effective range of motion maintenance programs. The non-invasive technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to help the clinician identify and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. GT allows a clinician to get as deep into the tissue as necessary to invoke change, yet be sensitive to patient pain and tolerance. As the instruments are moved over the affected area and come in contact with the adhesions, they help break up scar tissue and fascial restrictions. In time, this process will reduce or eliminate the adhered fibers, restoring range of motion and eliminating the associated pain. It will help transform your soft tissue injury into healthy functioning tissue. Graston Technique® Advantages While clinicians have choices in the marketplace, a GT-trained clinician

has made a career investment in the best soft-tissue mobilization technique available. GT’s commitment to very high educational standards ensures you will receive the best treatment possible. Graston Technique® • Decreases overall time of treatment • Fosters faster rehabilitation/recovery • Reduces need for anti-inflammatory medication • Resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent Obviously, treating a soft-tissue injury can, attimes, beuncomfortable. However, the use of GT instruments allows the clinician to better administer the level of pressure applied. While bruising is not the intent, soreness can occur during treatment. GT clinicians are trained to recognize these symptoms and adjust treatment intensity to minimize their occurrence, while realizing the benefits of the technique. GT does not need to be considered “painful” to be effective. Please inform your clinician if you are experiencing discomfort anytime during treatment. Patients usually receive two treatments per week during a four-to-five week period. Most patients have a positive response by the third to fourth treatment. Graston Technique® is accepted nationwide by elite athletes and everyday patients, as one of the most effective

treatments for rehabilitation and range of motion maintenance, especially when combined with other treatment modalities such as exercise. Contact your health care provider today or locate one here to find out if you can benefit from GT.
