CO 2 Footprint Optimization for PET Bottling Lines Pressure on plastics pollution in general, and PET as a food packaging material is increasing in public perception. Same happens on the CO2 footprint side. This pressure is both a challenge and an opportunity for our industry. To solve plastic pollution and reduce the CO2 footprint at the same time, plastic recycling is the way for the future. This is particularly true for a well recyclable material as PET. Advances in packaging weight reduction as well as better machine technology is emerging and show that PET still is the best choice, when it comes to beverage packaging – even seen from the environmental point of view. Looking at overall LCAs and the opportunities coming with rPET supported CO2 reduction, the use of advanced single machine technology as well as synergies in plant layout in the big picture – KRONES is providing good arguments for everybody interested in fact based discussion, to give PET packaging the future that it deserves. KRONES offers knowledge-based consulting and tailor-made solutions for supporting our customers in this regard.
