Empowering Entrepreneurs One at a Time

The Drakenstein community, like any other in South Africa, faces the challenge of growing unemployment. Yet, we are fortunate to have numerous skilled individuals and organisations based here who are passionate about and proactive in finding innovative solutions to this challenge. One such organisation is Labit, an empowering business incubator that believes in making it possible for entrepreneurs to have an economic and social impact on their local communities. Essentially, they follow a three-step approach to business incubation: deconstruct, rethink, and reconstruct. By deconstructing emerging entrepreneurs’ ideas, rethinking the viability of these ideas, and then reconstructing their business models before launching them to market, Labit empowers individual entrepreneurs to thrive. They’re passionate about eradicating unemployment by empowering one entrepreneur at a time. “Entrepreneurship is one of the strategies we can deploy to assist in creating employment opportunities in our immediate context,” explains Kenan Barends, Labit Training and Business Development Facilitator. the potential to start and grow successful, sustainable businesses that can create jobs and bring about positive social change. “We are focused on establishing and growing entrepreneurs who are hardworking, teachable, and community-minded,” he says. Labit has developed a delicate ecosystem as a flagship incubation model, aimed at the training, mentorship, and coaching of entrepreneurs through various levels.
