The Journal There’s never been a real estate deal to match the hilarious goings on of Hotbed Hotel at the Upper Canada Playhouse. Terri and Brian Cody are hoping to sell their “One Star Hotel” in the Florida Keys, to the only man who has expressed any in- terest in buying it. They’re not expecting him for a couple of weeks and are caught off-guard when they receive a phone call that he’ll be arriving within the hour. Unfortunately they have so few guests they’re afraid the prospective buyer will re- alize immediately that the hotel is a bad in- vestment. In order to impress him, they recruit their staff to masquerade as paying guests to give the impression the hotel is a successful busi- ness. The only hitch is their entire staff con- sists of a boozing maintenance man named Hopkins and a sexy housemaid named Maureen who has to pretend to also be the receptionist. Even one of the owners pre- tends to be a guest, leaving her inept hus- band to carry off the charade. Their plan goes quite well until the glam- ourous Hayley Harrington unexpectedly arrives, a high-spirited frequent guest who loves men and has a reputation for turning the hotel upside down in pursuit of them. The cast features Doug Tangney, the pop- ular Richard Bauer, Debra Hale, Timm Hughes, Susan Greenfield and Cow Pattie Theatre producer AnnaMarie Lea.
