Indian Gaming Overall Economic Output
with 62.8% or 274,559 jobs being created in the service sector of the economy, $12.4 billion in labor income and an overall economic output of $32.6 billion. The government sector of the economy followed with 16.0% of the jobs at 70,152. This sector was responsible for generating over $5.6 billion in labor income and produced an overall economic output of $7.5 billion in the United States economy.
In the current period, Indian Gaming generated significant economic activity which had an overall economic output of $81,664,286,406. This represents an economic output of $22,179,371,807 on the Indian reservations where their gaming enterprises are located and an economic output of $59,484,914,599 off the reservation. The summary results also tell us Indian Gaming operations are a substantial contributor in generating jobs throughout the States of where they are located at, as well as throughout the United States. In 2017, the total number of direct, indirect and induced jobs created off the reservation was 437,290. When you add that number to the full-time jobs at the 482 Indian gaming properties, you get a total of 745,052 jobs contributing to the GDP of the United States economy. From the summary tables listed, Indian gaming and their ancillary businesses impact numerous economic sectors daily with their hiring of thousands of employees and their purchasing of goods and services from local, state, and national markets. Because the gaming industry is a service business, it’s not surprising to see that Indian gaming makes its biggest impact within the “NAICS Service Sector” of the United States economy. In 2017, Indian gaming was responsible for generating a total of 437,290 jobs off the reservation,
