LE CUBEUR LOCAL ANTOINE CANTIN BAT UN RECORD MONDIAL
Antoine Cantin pendant la huitième compétition annuelle de résolution de Cube Rubik dans la région de la Capitale Nationale, qui a ieu à Rockland cette été. Il a gagné l’évènement principal, soit le 3x3x3. Le jeune homme de Rockland a résolu ce cube en 5,10 secondes, alors que la moyenne générale était de 7,24 secondes. Le cubeur local de Rockland, Antoine Cantin, a battu un record mondial pour la résolution du cube Rubik avec les yeux bandés. Ce record a été réalisé le samedi 21 juillet, lors des championnats européens à Madrid, en Espagne. Le record d’Antoine Cantin est pour la moyenne des trois résolutions requises lors d’une ronde. Celle-ci est de 21,18 secondes – ces temps de résolutions étant de 21,61, 22,08 et 19,84 secondes. Pour chaque résolution, le chronométrage a commencé aussitôt qu’il voit le cube. Il pouvait l’examiner aussi longtemps qu’il vou- lait, mais le temps découlait. Lorsque prêt, il devait mettre son bandeau pour couvrir ses yeux et il commençait la résolution. Le temps retenu est donc le temps de mémorisation et le temps de résolution combiné. Ce record mondial est le cinquième d’Antoine. En 2014, à Toronto, il a battu un record pour une résolution à une main de 8,75 secondes, une résolution du cube skewb avec une moyenne de 4,54 secondes à Philadelphie et une résolution à une main avec une moyenne de 12,56 secondes, encore à Toronto. En 2015, il a battu le record pour une résolution à une main avec une moyenne de 10,87 secondes. Antoine a fait ses études élémentaires à l’école Sainte Félicité de Clarence Creek, et a fréquenté l’école secondaire L’Escale de Rockland. Il est aussi l’un des organisateurs principaux de la compétition officielle organi- sée tous les mois de mai à la salle Optimiste

BOARD SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTION COMPLIANCE AUDIT COMMITTEE
In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (MEA), the Upper Canada District School Board will appoint an Election Compliance Audit Committee to consider compliance audit applications with regard to trustee candidates’ financial statements filed under Section 81 of the (MEA) for the 2018 election. The purpose of the Election Compliance Audit Committee is to: • Review compliance audit applications, if any, made by electors and decide whether they should be granted or rejected; • Appoint an auditor, if the application is granted; • Receive the auditor’s report; • Consider the auditor’s report and decide if legal proceedings should be commenced; and • Give directions accordingly and recover the costs of conducting the compliance audit from the appli- cant if no apparent contraventions are found. Committee members should possess a knowledge of the campaign finance rules of the (MEA) so they can make independent decisions on the merits of the applications. As the committee will operate as a quasi- judicial committee, prior experience on a committee, task force or tribunal would also be an asset. Applications will not be accepted from: • Employees or officers of the Upper Canada District School Board; • Trustees of the Upper Canada District School Board; • Candidates in the election for which the Committee is established or family members or employees of same, or any person connected to a candidate through any employment, contractual, business or partner- ship relationship; or • Any person who is or intends to volunteer or seek employment to assist any candidate in the election for which the Committee is established, including auditing or preparing trustee candidate financial statements.
