Targets & Action Plan

Travel & Transport

Target 1: Modal Shift Reduce the percentage of participants traveling by solo car from 54% to 45% by 2027.

Our 2026–2028 roadmap is built on a “Data-First” approach. Every target below is directly derived from our 2025 carbon inventory, stakeholder feedback (9,649 survey responses), and event sustainability best practices.

Action: Conduct a portfolio-wide Transport Accessibility Audit to identify infrastructure and service gaps. We will use this data to engage with local authorities and transit providers, seeking to better align public transport schedules with event-day requirements.

Evidence: 78.39% of runners stated they would use public transport if incentivised.

Target 2: Data Fidelity Achieve 100% travel data capture by 2029.

Action: Make “Mode of Travel” a mandatory field during the registration process in 2027.

Evidence: 75.58% of participants are willing to state their expected mode of travel during registration.

Target 3: Car-Sharing Feasibility

Action: Investigate the viability of car-sharing for destination events (e.g., 13 Valleys, Great North Swim) to increase vehicle occupancy and reduce car emissions.

Rationale: 35% of runners explicitly stated they would join a car-sharing scheme if one were available
