Colts rebound with two straight victories in final The Cornwall Colts have taken a 2-1 lead in their Central Canada Hockey League championship series against the Nepean Raiders. The Colts made the Raiders pay for their lack of discipline, scoring four powerplay goals on the way to a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon in Nepean. Michael Borkowski led the scoring for the Colts with two powerplay markers be- fore the midway mark of the second pe- riod. Tyson Spink also dominated, racking up four points, including an unassisted goal on an end-to-end rush late in the sec- ond. The usually disciplined Raiders racked up 13 minutes of penalties in the second period alone. Seven of those minutes were assessed to the Raiders’ Michael Vered for fighting with 14:21 played in the second period. COLTS WIN 2-0 The Cornwall Colts tied the CCHL final with a 2-0 win in Cornwall on Thursday. Trent Durocher put the Colts on the scoreboard at 5:17 in the third period on a forced turnover in the Nepean end set up by Kyle Baun, who scored an empty-netter with 11 seconds left to seal the victory. Both goaltenders – Lukas Hafner for the Colts and Matt Zawadzki for Nepean – were stellar between the pipes. Zawadzki turned away 37 of 39 Colts’ shots while Hafner turned away all 29 shots by Ne- pean. The Raiders started the game strong, hemming the Colts in their end for the first couple of minutes of the game, but by the midway point of the second Cornwall forecheck began to takeover. The Colts are back in action tomorrow (Tuesday) evening for Game 4 in Cornwall at 7:30 p.m. at the Ed Lumley Arena. They return to Nepean for Game 5 on Wednes- day evening.
