NOVEMBER 2019 the Beauty BOOK

The Building Blocks of Beauty

It’s the time of year when people talk about what they’re grateful for. Whether it be loved ones, a job, a beloved pet, or a new house, taking a moment to remember all that we have and to give thanks reminds us to acknowledge how blessed we really are. When I think about what I’m grateful for, I think about the job I get to do every day, giving people the building blocks for beauty and good health. Giving someone the knowledge, tools, and treatments that will help them feel and look like their best is my calling. It brings me great joy to get to do this for a living. In my practice, I’ve observed a lot about health and beauty. The two are often intertwined; people who feel good inside bring that outward to their appearance. It makes sense, doesn’t it? When you are treating yourself well on the outside and inside, it shows. While there are many diseases out there, some due to genetic causes beyond our control, many are self-inflicted. We make ourselves feel and look awful through unhealthy habits. Restaurants and the food industry are to blame for marketing unhealthy foods to us, as are tobacco companies for encouraging unhealthy habits. But I don’t want to focus on the negative. The important thing to remember is that this is something we have the power to change. It’s not easy, but by returning to the basics, you can do it. It’s time to return to the building blocks of beauty. If you aren’t where you want to be, look at the everyday habits that make up who you are. What do you do when you wake up? What do your meals look like? Do you make food every weekend so you can eat healthily throughout the week? Could someone help you do that? What do you need to do to be the beautiful, healthy person you know you can be? If we studied our health like we studied finances, we would find that much of what we need to be healthy and beautiful is right in front of us. I’m very passionate about longevity: helping people live longer,

healthier, fuller lives. It’s why I’ve studied and learned about the latest in anti-aging treatments, like platelet-rich plasma and hormone treatments that give you a new lease on life and fillers and facials that help you look as young as you feel. Thanksgiving and the holidays can be a challenging time when it comes to health and beauty. We are surrounded by rich foods that can easily cause us to pack on a few pounds over the winter, which can lead to weight gain over the course of a lifetime. When you’re tempted by those foods or when you’re tempted to skip your workout or facial, return to the building blocks. Remind yourself why you are doing this. Like so many things in life, it’s hard to appreciate what you have right in front of you. But this month, I encourage you to think about what you are grateful for and promise yourself that you will make room for more of the things that bring beauty into your life.
