A translation is a transformation along a vector such that each segment joining a point and its image has the same length as the vector and is parallel to the vector. Example 2 Drawing Translations
A translation of a figure is drawn in this example. The preimage figure and the translation vector are given. To draw the image, the translation of the preimage, draw a line parallel to the vector through each of the vertices of the preimage. Take the measure of the vector and mark off this distance on each of the lines from the preimage vertex in the direction of the vector. Draw line segments between the marks, which are the vertices of the image, to form the image figure.
