Restrained in the early stages from the wide barrier and settled at the rear. When held up approaching the 400m was steadied after becoming awkwardly placed on heels SANL 06/12/2023 Commenced awkwardly. Raced in restricted room from the 400m until passing the 300m in an attempt to gain a narrow run. SANL 22/11/2023 When questioned, rdr stated, after beginning awkwardly, was crowded and shifted in behind rnrs to settle at rear of the field. He said, despite being ridden along, his mnt did not travel well throughout early & middle stages. Approaching home turn he was able to improve to the inside of rnrs. Added, when awkwardly positioned to the inside in early part of straight, he elected to ease around heels to secure clear running near 300m. He added he was able to place his mnt under full pressure from this point and the gelding closed off well. K GR 18/11/2023 Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until approaching the 100m. Tactics queries. Rider explained instructed to ride mount back in the field and at some stage make a run to the outside. Stated that when a position opened to the inside of a runner near the 900m he let his mount improve along the rails to save ground. Further stated that he was held up in the straight and anticipated there may be an opportunity to ease a runner wider on the course and obtain a run, however when this did not eventuate he again had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight. CAUL 16/12/2023 Raced wide without cover throughout the race. SEYM 21/12/2023 Near the 1100m had to be restrained to avoid heels. CAUL 14/12/2023 Raced wide in the early and middle stages, before obtaining cover in a worse than midfield position near the 1100m. Rider reported that her mount was not suited by the quick tempo and added that it did not feel entirely comfortable in its action over the latter stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the right fore leg. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again. CAUL 16/12/2023
