NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE The NCAA has established a Clearinghouse for both recruiting and eligibility purposes for student-athletes in Division I and II. This does not apply to Division III applicants. All students with an interest in Division I or Division II programs, but especially those interested in possibly making official visits (expenses paid) to colleges in the fall of their senior year, should register online at www.eligibilitycenter.org by the spring of their junior year. Follow the prompts to register. Further information regarding this process may be found on the NCAA website ( www.ncaa.org ) by clicking on “Student-Athletes.” If you have ever attended another high school, you must have that school submit an official transcript as well. You will be officially certified upon graduation from Milton. The Clearinghouse certifies that you have completed a core of courses that are not necessarily the same as Milton’s graduation requirements. Also be aware that the NCAA core requires four years of English, which can create a problem for students who have spent time away from Milton on a special program or who have repeated a year. We strongly recommend that you check with the counselors if you have any questions or concerns about these requirements. SAMPLE EMAIL TO COACH Dear Coach Wicket: I am writing to let you know of my interest in the field hockey program at [college name]. I am currently a junior at Milton Academy in Milton, Massachusetts. I have started at midfield for the past two years. Last year I received ISL All-League honorable mention. This past summer I attended Merestead Sports Camps (field hockey only) and played in the Cape Cod Classics Field Hockey Tournament in August. I was a member of the Massachusetts Private Team, uniform #4. Over Thanksgiving weekend I will be playing in the National Field Hockey Tournament in Palm Beach, Florida. I will be on the East Coast Team, uniform #23. I would very much appreciate it if you could send me some information on your field hockey program. Enclosed is a copy of my schedule for the remainder of the season and my field hockey resume. Thank you very much. I hope to hear from you soon.
