COMPOSER INTERVIEWED
With the emphasis on presenting to the listener new program features, The Bible Institute Hour had as its recent guest Mr. Haldor Lillenas, composer of such well-known gospel favorites as "Count Me", "It is Glory Just to Walk With Him", "Jesus Has Lifted Me", and probably the one most widely known of all, "Won– derful Grace of Jesus", to name but a few. While being interviewed on The Bible Institute Hour, Mr. Lillenas told Mr. Al Sanders, Radio Director, that the BIOLA broadcasts have long been his favorite. Mrs. Lillenas was also introduced to the student body in the recent appearance. Other well-known composers will be heard from· time to time in future broadcasts. ••...•••••..............•..•....•••••.....•..•........ You'll hear it featured on the BIOLA Hour in the days to come. Use it for your Sunday School class or young people's meeting, or to liven up church service Sunday evening. And be sure to ask for additional copies if you would like them. Behind the Microphone ••• "/ guess I've always played piano all my life," smiled Wanda Haward, organist on the Bible Institute Hour,
when interviewed for the Broad– caster. "I've taken lessons, and I've given lessons, but I don't think I've ever enioyed anything so much as since I started playing for the broadcasts about a year and a half ago." Wanda laughed as she answered the question of where she lived by saying, "Pixley, California, and believe me there ARE several hundred people there."
At least the BIOLA Hour has two loyal listeners for Wanda's mother and father hear the program constantly over KCOK, Tulare, California. They attend the United Brethren Church, where Wanda was active in music before coming to school. Her activities at BIOLA include accompanying the Ambassadors Quartet in gospel services and in charge of prayer meetings as First Vice-President of the Student Missionary Union. Her favorite verse is Galatians 2:20 and certainly her life as well as her music shows her devotedness to the Lord Jesus Christ. NEXT MONTH ••• MEET. The Ambassador Quartet
Lust Cull For ..Blessed Assurances" Booklet If you haven't as yet written far the booklet "Blessed Assurances" by Dr. Louis T. Talbot, you had better do so now, for this is the last trme we will be able to offer them. Many people have said what an inspiration and challenge they've received and you'll want a copy ta read and to pass on to a friend. Certainly In a day of fear and despair, this is the booklet ta rid the Christian heart of despair and despondency.
Our President -speaks •.. Someone once osked that great man of God A. B. Simpson whether he thought it more importont to give to o missionary
organization or o school which trains young people for service, and quickly he replied: "I would not diminish the attack on the front lines of Satan, but my strong belief is that we should support o Christion institution training young people in ·11vi11g the Word of God." We feel ·much the some about this truth and it's simply because so many think o work such as the Bible Institute is supported by many means, therefore they need not give.
Actually we count on each of you monthly readers to help in the tremendous task and responsibility, and na gift is too small. Sa will you remember the work of The Bible Institute of Los Angeles in your prayers, osking God to lay the sacri– ficial burden upon your heart. Our most since¥' and grateful thanks on behalf of each of these students you are helping us to train. In the years to come, you will see the interest paid as these ambassadors go out into world-wide service. Now, may the pages of this month's Broadcaster enrich and challenge your heart for Christ.
Our Broadcaster Camer a caught President Sutherland standing beside a television camera during a recent pro– duction. Such programs cost a great deal of money and time, but it has been shown that many have found Christ through this God-given medium. People retain only about ten percent of what they hear while they remember about eighty percent of what they see. We pray we may be able to use television again to proclaim Christ. A loose tongue often gets its owner In a tight place. * * * The Lord had a job for me, but I had so much to do. I said: "You get somebody else, or wait'll I get through." I don't know how the Lord made out, no doubt He got along. But I felt kind of sneakin' like, I knew I'd done God wrong. One day, I needed the Lord, needed Him right away. But He never answered me at all, and I could hear Him say Down in My accusin' heart: "Child of Mine, I've got too much to do. You get somebody else, or wait'll I get through." Now when the Lord has a job for me, I never try to shirk. I drop what I have on hand and do the Lord's good work. And my affairs can run along, or wait'll I get through, For nobody else can do the work that God's marked out for you. Pick up an atlas of our country and you'll find there are 11 Hollywoods, 22 Clevelands, 18 Albanys, 25 Springfields, and 14 Brooklyns. Around the globe there are 17 Berlins, 11 Romes, and 4 Tokyos. But there is only ONE CALVARY. Only one place where the price of your sins and mine have been paid for. * * * Seven days without prayer will make one WEAK. ~ BIGGEST NEWS OF THE MONTH CONCERNS THE RELEASE OF THE NEW BOOKLET ON BIBLE QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY OUR PANEL OF OUTSTANDING CHRISTIAN LEADERS ••.
