Brother Grand Polemarch Battles, it is truly an honor to submit this letter of recommendation on the behalf of Brother John F. Burrell, a 1988 Initiate of the University of Southern Mississippi Chapter, the Kappa Iota of Kappa Alpha Psi to support his petition for the Elder Watson Diggs award being submitted to the Achievement Commission for the evaluation of these qualifications. During my time as an undergrad student at Southern Miss and undergoing the process of putting together my petitions for the Guy L. Grant and the Byron Kenneth Armstrong awards, Brother Burrell was very instrumental in helping me through this process. As a proud and dynamic member of our chapter, Brother Burrell not only provided insight and guidance through my petition process. He has played an integral role in giving back to his home chapter through leadership and mentorship and guiding young brothers to stay among the cream of the crop in the Mighty Southwestern Province. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to see with my own eyes his character and his reputation put on the line for others and know his heart felt passion and dedication to work hard at all of his endeavors and tasks. Brother Burrell’s petition is an amazing story of how far pure passion, dedication, mentorship and exceptional leadership can make a difference in the lives of others as well as the Fraternity. I am honored to call Brother Burrell our brother because he is a direct product of what Kappa Alpha Psi stands for.
