SPRAINED YOUR ANKLE? PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN HELP

Have you ever injured your ankle by doing something simple, like stepping off a curb or kicking a soccer ball? Don’t be discouraged. Ankle sprains are among the most common injuries people face, and they can happen anytime and anywhere. There’s a good reason why ankle sprains are so common. You might not consciously think about something as simple as standing or walking — these motions are second nature to most of us. But when you really think about it, your ankle supports most of your weight, which is why injuring it is so commonplace. According to the American Physical Therapy Association, 23,000 people in the United States will suffer from a sprained ankle, and 45 percent of that number are sports-related injuries.

yourself again. This is what physical therapists strive to help you prevent. Their goal is not only to work with your ankle after the injury to get it back to normal, but also to strengthen the muscles around it to avoid future injuries. The rehabilitation process should be taken at a slow and careful pace, one that you’re comfortable with and that won’t push you beyond your physical capabilities. Your physical therapist will work with you to stretch and strengthen your ankle with a number of exercises, beginning with resistance exercises and eventually progressing to weight-bearing exercises. Keeping an open line of communication with your doctor and physical therapist will help you toward a speedy recovery. Ankle injuries can be tough to get through, but if you work with the professionals and take things slow and steady, you’ll be back up on your feet in no time.

CASTLE HILLS

With five offices to serve our patients located throughout the northern areas of Fort Worth, we have actively worked to increase convenience for our clients. Many of our loyal patients who have been going to our clinics near Fort Worth may not realize we have another clinic located at the edge of Denton County: our Castle Hills location. Castle Hills has been open since April of last year and is located at 1600 FM 544 #200 in The Colony/Lewisville/Carrollton area. The opportunity to provide our community with

another clinic has been really exciting! This facility, like all of our locations, offers the same love, care, and attention we give to everyone who walks through our doors. Whether you want to get your old life back or you’ve come to learn more about physical health, we are here for you! We have a wonderful staff at Castle Hills. Lori Day, PT, MS, is our clinic coordinator. She works hard with Tim Nuckols and Lewis EO to provide expert care to every individual. Not only do they bend over backward to welcome you into the facility, but they work just as hard to make sure you reach your goals.

While each location aims to bring excellence to anyone seeking help or knowledge, not all of our clinics are the same. For instance, Castle Hills is one of only three Premier Rehab locations with a HydroWorx 500 pool as part of our aquatic therapy. We at Premier Rehab Physical Therapy are also happy to announce that we’ll be opening a sixth clinic! While the grand opening is still a couple of months away, we’re looking forward to providing yet another amazing facility for the community. We hope that this sixth facility will bring more opportunities for people seeking to improve their overall health.
