Tipi Raising Competition Fosters Teamwork; Provides Opportunity to Learn Indigenous Traditions and Values Each year, members of SaskEnergy’s SAGE employee network team up with staff from various groups across the company to take part in the Glen Anaquod Memorial Tipi Raising Competition at the University of Regina. The tipi’s cultural significance is a key aspect of the competition, as teams are docked points if they break traditional guidelines, such as stepping over the tipi poles or dragging the tipi canvas. In addition to the quality of their tipi, teams are also judged on communication and teamwork. As participants learn about the tipi's significance, they also have the chance to celebrate the values that the tipi teaches, such as tending to the needs of our homes and families, the importance of teamwork, listening and observation, styles of leadership, and the ability to persevere in the face of obstacles.
