HND Coaching and Developing Sport will give you the underpinning knowledge and practical coaching skills you need to pursue a career in a sports-related field or to progress to higher education. Throughout the course, you will develop an appreciation of the science behind the craft of coaching and build the technical skills required in the planning, preparation and delivery of coaching sessions. You will also refine your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of your practice and develop the necessary skills to research, identify and adopt innovations from emerging trends in sports coaching. This course will also cover psychology of sports coaching, sports development and sports mechanics as well as Professional Development Award (PDA) in Sports Coaching at SCQF Level 7 and 8 which is jointly certificated with sportscotland and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). You must be physically fit to undertake the practical elements of this course. A PVG will be required to undertake any coaching placements/work experience which may be included in the course.
HND Fitness, Health and Exercise

HND Fitness, Health and Exercise will give you the knowledge and leadership skills required to pursue a career in the fitness industry, within leisure centres, self-employment and/or progress into higher education including teaching. You may also get the opportunity to gain additional industry recognised awards such as studio cycling, kettle bells and rebound qualifications. You will study subjects including exercise physiology and anatomy, nutrition, gym based exercise, physical activity for children, personal training, fitness testing and exercise with music. We have extremely strong partnership links with employers, fitness centres and gyms around Glasgow and beyond who we work closely with to recommend qualified students to join their fitness teams. You must be physically fit to undertake the practical elements of this course. A PVG will be required to undertake any coaching placements/work experience which may be included in the course.
