HNC Football Coaching and Developing Sport will not only give you the skills, expertise and relevant qualifications to work within the football industry but will also cover sports coaching. It aims to develop a pathway/certification for football coaches, leading to possible employment with Celtic Football Club. Throughout the course, you will develop an appreciation of the science behind the craft of coaching and build the technical skills required in the planning, preparation and delivery of coaching sessions. You will also refine your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of your practice and develop the necessary skills to research, identify and adopt innovations from emerging trends in sports coaching. This course will also cover psychology of sports coaching, sports development and sports mechanics as well as Professional Development Award (PDA) in Sports Coaching at SCQF Level 7 which is jointly certificated with sportscotland and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). This course also includes a weekly coach education session from Celtic Football Club. You must be physically fit to undertake the practical elements of this course. A PVG will be required to undertake any coaching placements/work experience which may be included in the course.
