Is it your dream to become a primary teacher? This new course will give you the basic qualifications to progress to an undergraduate degree in primary teaching. You will study Higher English and National 5 Applications of Maths while learning some key skills required to be an effective primary teacher. You will gain skills in sports coaching to deliver physical education and you will gain an introduction to Spanish and/or British Sign Language to support you in developing learners’ linguistic skills. You will also learn basic theories of teaching and learning and how to support the behaviour and needs of your learners. You will have a designated guidance contact throughout to support you in applying to university or for further college study.

If you wish to apply for the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and already possess a relevant degree but do not have the course entry requirements (Higher English and National 5 Maths), this is the course for you. Successful completion of this course would allow you to apply for any PGDE course in Scotland.
