They are off and running at the start of the Annual St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School Walk/Run-a-Thon, during the noon-hour break onMay 5. At least the older students elected to run, along with theirmore energetic younger peers. Parents and staffwho also took part in the event chose a more sedate pace as they accompanied the primary grades along the two-kilometre route around the school’s Heritage Drive neighbourhood. Prior to that, students, parents, and staff took part in a vigorous warm up session in the school’s playground area. This year’s event raisedmore than $4700 to help support the Canadian Cancer Society and the Mood Disorders Society of Canada along with various school community projects and programs. —photos Gregg Chamberlain
