the responsiveness of the Senate and Executive Committee to the campus community and faculty. The committee is also seeking feedback on how to increase the usefulness, reliability, and validity of assessments of academic administrators, including the President, Provost, and Deans. The committee is currently drafting letters seeking feedback from the President and Provost about what factors are helpful in the evaluations they review and receive. This includes questions on the helpfulness of open ended responses and the appropriateness of metrics regarding response rates for such assessments to be useful. Lastly, the committee is examining similar questions for evaluation of faculty with SEOIs. In short, how open-ended responses should be used, what are appropriate response rates, etc. This new taskforce was proposed by the Executive Committee in late Fall 2017, charges were drafted in early Winter 2018, and authorized by the senate in late Winter 2018. This taskforce was formed as a way for faculty to play a significant role in making Central Washington University an environment free of sexual violence, sexual harassment, and gender discrimination. The primary goals of this taskforce include: (1) examine current policies and practices at Central Washington relating to sexual victimization and harassment as well as gender discrimination; (2) examine known best practices to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual violence, harassment, and gender discrimination; and (3) recommend new policies and practices that arise from items (1) and (2) for Central Washington University. Membership structure of the committee will include: 6 faculty members, 2 students, 2 parents-of-students, 1 staff, and 1 liaison to the Executive Committee (this liaison will be in a supporting role and non-voting). In addition, the committee will be drawing on the expertise of individuals from across the University to further the goals of the committee. Faculty members have been appointed by the Executive Committee and confirmed by the Senate and this taskforce will begin meeting on Monday, May 7 th to start the preliminary work of examining charges and working on getting the rest of the members (students, parents, and staff) on board.
