Executive Summary – Tuition Waiver Plan Fall 2018

The Tuition Waiver Plan for Fall 2018 has been reviewed and recommended for approval by the Tuition Waiver Plan Subcommittee and the Budget Executive Committee, and approved by President Gaudino in accordance with the budget governance structure.

The Plan reflects modest changes from previous awarding strategies:

For incoming WA residents : Presidential, Trustee, and Wildcat Merit Waivers are restricted to WA residents, using GPA criteria for award. The Presidential waiver shall be renewable for four years for incoming students. Students will receive a one-time-only award for a high-achieving test score (SAT, ACT). For incoming Non-resident domestic students : WUE tuition waiver shall continue to be awarded based on residency in a WICHE state. Stacking of Presidential, Trustee and Wildcat waivers on top of a WUE waiver will no longer be allowed. Other types of waivers (music, athletics, SEM performance, et al) may continue to be stacked. The Golden Ticket scholarship program will be placed on moratorium for one year, allowing for program assessment and possible changes. No awards will be made to incoming freshmen; continuing students who received the Golden Ticket will continue to receive their benefits.
