attend Alabama Symphony Orchestra’s free annual performance, “Symphony in the Summer” (May 28–30). Golfers won’t want to miss the Regions Tradition PGA Champions Tour tournament (May 12–16). Broadway’s The Outsiders is coming to Birmingham May 25–30, and whether you read the book in 8th grade or it’s a completely new storyline to you, the coming-of-age musical is worth watching. JUNE June brings a mix of culture, entertainment, and summer fun to Birmingham, with Father’s Day celebrations , Juneteenth events honoring freedom and heritage, and the Broadway hit The Book of Mormon at the BJCC Concert Hall (June 15–20).

Families and friends can also enjoy outdoor movie series under the stars and gather around the fire for S’mores & Pours , an evening of sweet treats, drinks, and community (early June). JULY It wouldn’t be July without fireworks, and Thunder on the Mountain is Alabama’s largest and most spectacular annual

Hoover, Vestavia, Chelsea, Trussville, and more. If you’re a hunter, the annual World Deer Expo (July 17–19) was made for you—but if you prefer musicals, you’ll need to go see Red Mountain Theatre’s heart-warming production of Annie (June 11–July 11). AUGUST August in Birmingham wraps up summer with film, community, and back-to-school fun. One highlight is the Sidewalk Film Festival , which showcases independent films, filmmaker panels, and special screenings downtown. Families can also enjoy back-to-school bashes , local splash pads , Birmingham Legion FC soccer matches , concerts at Coca-Cola Amphitheater, and Birmingham Baron baseball games , as the new school year begins.
