E very Mother’s Day Weekend, we bring all of the mares (and their early-born foals) and the replacement fillies to the home place and
sort them into their assigned breed- ing groups for stallion turn out. This is quite a process. Once the mares are

sorted, we haul each group out to large native-grass pastures, with the stallions, for the summer breeding season. As each trailer door opens and the mares and foals head to grass, the stallions anxiously wait for their gates to open - muscles rippling with athleticism and commandment - ready to go to work. Once turned out, there is a blur of power and dust - hooves thundering like rolling drums and ground trembling under the charge, as they gather and get reacquainted with their mares.

Wrustler “Rusty” & Anna Frye
R usty and Anna Frye, owners/operators of Big Thompson Stables and Training Center in Milliken, CO, have started another set of Bath Brothers horses under saddle for this year’s Come to the Source Sale. Rusty is originally from The Hidden Valley Ranch in Ashby, NE and spent many years working side by side with his father training horses for Dick VanPelt. Anna, a Colorado native, started apprenticing as a horse trainer in 2010 in Potter, NE. They take immense pride in their training methods and love turning out gentle, solid horses, that are capable of carrying their kids down a trail, or going straight to work. will never leave us. You cared deeply for this place — for the land, the an- imals, and the people who still call it home. You had an exceptional way of turning ordinary days on the ranch into extraordinary memoirs, while keeping others “in the know” with your stories, humor, and amazing photographs! ship was a gift. You had a sharp wit, a steady hand, and a heart that could hold the weight of the world. You were family to so many of us, and your presence made our days bright- er, our hearts fuller, and our memo- ries richer. The wind on the ranch still carries your voices, and the sun continues to warm the spots where you sat. We miss you every day but carry you with us always. SLR Frank James, “Frank” (Lot 19)
D on’t miss the opportunity to own this son of legendary outlaw, Jesse James Jr - an AQHA racing champion and highly prolific sire of money earners, before his passing in 2017. “Frank” was purchased in 2013, bred for us starting in 2015 and had his fist foals in 2016. He has sired many phenomenal foals for our program including those pictured here.
