GROUPS & ACTIVITIES Eco-Action Nursery

Thank you to all the students, teachers, volunteers, and business sponsors who helped make this year so successful. The Christ’s Corner Nursery has been very well-supported by students from both Rangi Ruru Girls’ School and College volunteering in excess of 650 hours by sowing 25 species of eco-sourced native seed, pricking out 30,000 seedlings into 50x50 pots, as well as potting on around 1000 plants. We collectively planted about 14,000 native plants into the Red Zone on land organised by the Christchurch City Council Parks staff and LINZ. We are currently potting on the 20,000 eco-sourced seedlings we will plant next year at 16 schools. This year Christchurch Boys’ High School, Tuˉaˉhiwi Kura, St Michael’s Church

School, Burnside Primary School, joined Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, St Margaret’s College, Christchurch Girls’ High School, Linwood College, Raˉwhiti School, The Cathedral Grammar School, Heaton Intermediate, Avonside Girls’ High School, Shirley Boys’ High School, Christchurch South Intermediate, St Andrew’s College and Christ’s College. Isaac Construction again provided the road cone sprinkler stands for all the new nurseries. About 30,000 seedlings will be pricked out to supply the schools and other organisations we anticipate having in the Satellite Nursery network next season. Canterbury Landscape Supplies continues to provide an excellent potting mix that grows very healthy plants. Envirowaste donated another 62 wheelie bins
