Officer Henry “ Hank ” Nava, Jr. Highway Sign Installed The City of Fort Worth unveiled the Officer Henry “ Hank ” Nava, Jr. Memorial Highway sign on June 29, 2026 at a ceremony that included family, friends, and fellow officers. Officer Nava was fatally shot in December 2005 while serving a warrant. We are forever grateful to Officer Nava and all who have made the ultimate sacrifice. K9 Roll ’ s handler had to make the difficult decision to give the retired police dog his final ride in June 2026. Roll will be remembered for his courage, unwavering loyalty, and his dedication to protecting others. Though his watch has ended, his legacy will live on. Rest easy and run free. K9 Roll Takes His Final Ride In June 2026, Fort Worth welcomed soccer fans from all over the world who came to cheer on their favorite team during the World Cup. In preparation for this event, a dedicated “ FIFA Team ” comprised of approximately 100 officers across eight teams was created. We hope that everyone had a safe and wonderful time in Fort Worth! A ceremony was held on May 14 to celebrate the promotions of 37 police officers. Those recently promoted include Chris Daniels to Assistant Chief, Amy Heise and Andre Smith to Deputy Chief, and Chancey Pogue and Jason Spencer to Commander. Congratulations! FWPD Promotions
FWPD hosted and attended multiple community events during the past quarter, partnering with community leaders and businesses to provide residents with opportunities to gather together. Officers engaged with the community at Opal Lee ’ s Walk for Freedom Parade, put in some miles at the Special Olympics Torch Run, and celebrated the graduation of FWISD students from the department ’ s Criminal Justice class.
