2026 2nd Quarter - Crimes Against Persons Crimes Against Persons decreased 5.1% in Second Quarter 2026 with 3,323 offenses compared to 3,501 offenses in Second Quarter 2025. There was a 21.1% decrease in Murder & Manslaughter, an 18.4% decrease in Forcible Sex Offenses, a 14.5% decrease in Kidnapping/Abduction, and a 13.1% decrease in Aggravated Assault. There was a 150% increase in Human Trafficking.

Homicide offenses decreased 21.1% in Second Quarter 2026 with 15 homicide victims compared to 19 in Second Quarter 2025.

Four each of the 15 homicides were arguments/fights and unknown motive. Two each were domestics and robberies. One each was other, reckless/negligence, and road rage.

Twelve of the 15 homicides have suspects identified. Nine of the 15 cases have been filed.

Five homicides were committed in Council District 8 and three in District 11. Districts 6 and 9 each saw two homicides, and Districts 2, 3, and 5 recorded one. Council Districts 4, 7, and 10 had zero.

Eleven of the 15 homicides were by a firearm.

Homicide Prevention Strategies FWPD ’ s homicide prevention strategies involve various partnerships. Neighborhood Police Officers, the Victim Assistance Section, and One Safe Place provide outreach services to prevent domestic violence crimes that have the potential to turn into a homicide. In addition, the Homicide Unit works closely with the Crime Lab as policies have changed allowing for more timely entry of ballistic intelligence into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm's (ATF) National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to more readily identify persons who may be involved in violent offenses. The Homicide Unit also continues to work with members of the Gang, Narcotics, and Robbery Units where other criminal activity may elevate to homicide.
